Features to Look for in a Waste Oil Furnace: Superior Flue Tube Design
Choosing a waste oil furnace can be challenging, especially with many models from several well-known manufacturers on the market. In this post, our series of articles continues to help you know what to look for in a waste oil heater.
Let’s delve into flue tube design. Not all makers of waste oil equipment approach this the same way, and this important component of your furnace can greatly impact a variety of factors!
Why Waste Oil Furnace Flue Tube Design Matters
The construction and positioning of flue tubes makes a big difference, impacting:
- How easy it is to clean the furnace.
- The interval between cleanings.
- The durability of the flue tubes.
- The lifespan of the furnace.
At Clean Energy Heating Systems, we make our flue tubes out of stainless steel, so they are strong, and resist corrosion and deterioration. This helps ensure your furnace will last for the long-term.
Another point of differentiation between our furnaces and those by other manufacturers is that many other manufacturers weld their flue tubes into the heat exchanger, which makes them more susceptible to cracking. Why? This is due to expansion and contraction that occur respectively during the heating and cooling process.
And that’s why we don’t weld our flue tubes. Instead, we use the process of swedging, an expansion process that bonds the metal in a way that produces seams that accommodate expansion and contraction. This helps to ensure our furnaces’ flue tubes stand up to dramatic temperature fluctuations over many years.
Last but certainly not least, we position our flue tubes vertically in our furnaces so that ash buildup doesn’t become a performance or safety issue. Our vertical flue tubes allow ash to fall directly into a cleanout pan. This minimizes deterioration of the tubes and makes for easy cleanout.
