Waste Oil Furnaces for High Altitude Installations

Above 3,500 feet the air gets thin. This can cause all sorts of problems, from cakes not rising, to headaches when skiing, to waste oil furnaces not firing as efficiently as possible. In fact, high-altitude waste oil furnaces installed above 3,500 feet often “overfire.” When the ratio of oxygen to fuel that is necessary for proper operation is unbalanced, it causes the flame to become too long for the body of the furnace. When the flame is too long for the body of the furnace, it can cause damage and premature wear on the furnace’s combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is at the heart of every waste oil furnace, and when this critical component is damaged the furnace is no longer safe to operate.

Luckily for waste oil furnace users above 3,500 feet, we’ve developed a new technology that adapts to various altitudes and ensures the correct mixture of oxygen to fuel even up to 10,000 feet. This means that our waste oil furnaces, when installed in higher altitude locales, will provide years of free heat without the damage caused by overfiring that is common in competitors furnaces.

To accomplish this, we’ve developed a new oil pumping system and burner design. Our oil pumping system limits the flow of oil into the combustion chamber. Our new burner design has an option for adjustable air intake, which allows greater airflow into the combustion chamber at higher elevations. When used together, these two features minimize overfiring and ensure that even at higher elevations our furnaces will provide years of worry-free service.

Each of our waste oil furnaces is available for use within the following elevation ranges. Simply let us know what your installed elevation is and we’ll make sure to ship the correct model to you!

Available waste oil furnaces for high elevations are:

  • Less than 3,500 ft.
  • 3,500-5,000 ft.
  • 5,000-7,500 ft.
  • 7,500-10,000ft.

Thanks to our high-altitude technology, businesses can benefit from the cost savings of waste oil heating no matter where they’re located! So if you’re in Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, New Hampshire, the Smokey Mountains, or anywhere else that’s above 3,500 feet, contact us today to learn more and get a quote.
